Day 1: Arrival in Guatemala, Overnight in Antigua ...
EnjoyGuatemala welcomes you the El Mundo Maya, the beautiful land of lakes, volcanoes and ancient Mayan Culture. Upon arrival at the International Airport of Guatemala City, one of our drivers will wait for you at the exit of the airport to transfer you to your hotel in Antigua. Overnight in Antigua.
Day 2: Antigua...
Enjoy breakfast, then your guide will meet you for a city tour of Antigua. Enormous churches monasteries and colonial mansions from the 17/18th century line the city's cobblestone streets. UNESCO declared Antigua patrimony to mankind. The guided tour also includes visits to The Merced Church, Central Plaza, Casa Kojom (coffee and Music Museum), Ciudad Vieja and Aguas calientes. Lunch at a local restaurant in the heart of Antigua. Late afternoon at your leisure or walk the streets and visit the markets in search of handmade cloths, weavings and crafts. Overnight in Antigua. Day 3: Antigua/Chichicastenango...
Morning drive into the Altiplano (highlands) of Guatemala. Chichicastenango is home to one of the most spectacular and traditional markets in the Americas. The market is operational on Thursdays and Sundays starting at 8:00 am. There you will see and have a chance to buy impressive handicraft souvenirs. Visit the 400 year old Santo Tomas Church, where Catholic and pagan rites take place side by side in a truly mystic atmosphere. On the steps, people praying burn copal incense. Once inside the church, they offer candles and flowers to the souls of the departed, while they call on the saints and the lords of all the natural forces. After lunch you will be transferred to Panajachel on Lake Atitlan where you will have the rest of the afternoon and the evening at leisure. Overnight in Panajachel, 5000 feet above sea level! B
Day 4: Atitlan/Guatemala City...
Today you will have an excursion by boat to Santiago, a typical Mayan village. Crossing Lake Atitlan you will see the three volcanoes San Pedro, Toliman and Atitlan that are dominating the landscape. Santiago is known for the quality and beauty of its textile products. In the afternoon, you will return to Guatemala City. Overnight in Guatemala City. B
Day 5: Copan (Honduras)...
Morning departure for a scenic drive to Copan in Honduras. Copan is home to the best-preserved ruins of the Mayan world, long protected by the jungle in a remote mountain valley. It boasts some of the finest sculptures and the longest Mayan text ever discovered and was declared patrimony to mankind by UNESCO. Archaeologists continue to make amazing discoveries in Copan. Overnight in Copan. B
Day 6: Puerto Barrios, Livingston...
After breakfast we will transfer you to Puerto Barrios. Upon your arrival in Puerto Barrios you will take a boat to the picturesque Garifuna town of Livingstone on the Caribbean Coast. Overnight at the Hotel Villa Caribe in Livingstone. B
Day 7: Playa Blanca...
Today you will have an excursion by boat to the private beach of Playa Blanca passing along the waterfall of the 7 altars. Relax and enjoy the white sand beach bordered by palm trees and the warm water of the Caribbean Sea! A box lunch on the beach is included. In the afternoon you return to the hotel in Livingstone. Day 8: Livingstone - Rio Dulce - Flores...
After breakfast departure to one of the most beautiful regions in Guatemala: the Rio Dulce. In the Natural Reserve of Rio Dulce which is said to be one of richest areas of flora and fauna in Central America, you will be around several hundreds species of animals and vegetation combined, so prepare for an unforgettable afternoon. Here You will have a chance to see the mangroves and The San Felipe Fortress. Then you will be transferred to Peten in the north of the country. Overnight in Peten. B.
Day 9: Tikal Excursion...
In this remote area, one of the greatest civilizations of its time built a city that lasted for centuries. The site of Tikal is in a national park where the native flora and fauna still flourish relatively undisturbed. Hundreds of species of birds, including toucans and macaws, can easily be seen, as can spider and howler monkeys as they glide through the dense vegetation. Also have the exciting experience of climbing to the top of the temples, palaces and pyramids. Discover ancient treasures like amazing steles and monuments. You can visit the main ruins, explore the "Q" Complex , the Central Plaza, North and Central Acropolis, then enjoy a delicious country lunch. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Flores Airport to take your flight back to Guatemala City. Overnight in Guatemala City. B, L
